How it works.
Oklahoma's tax credit program lets you redirect what you'd already owe the state into local publicschool districts. Here's what happens, end to end.
Five steps from check to credit.
Pledge
Download the OEOEF pledge form and choose: one-year gift (50%) or two-year pledge (75%).
Donate
Send your check to OEOEF. Checks clear, donations get logged, receipts go out.
OEOEF receives
Funds are pooled and held by OEOEF, a verified 501(c)(3) registered with the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
Grants distributed
OEOEF grants funds to qualifying public school districts across Oklahoma under the $200K district cap.
Claim your credit
File your Oklahoma return and apply your credit. 50% on a single-year gift, 75% on a two-year pledge.
Two ways to give. Two credits to claim.
The credit you claim against your Oklahoma tax bill depends on the gift structure you choose.
Oklahoma tax credit on what you give.
Give once. Claim 50% back on your next Oklahoma return. Simplest path — one form, one tax year, done.
Oklahoma tax credit when you commit two years.
Split your gift across two tax years. Claim 75% credit on your share each year. Best return on every dollar — you just pledge today and follow through next year.
Caps and eligibility.
The program is generous, but capped — at the donor level, the district level, and the statewide level.
The total credit available across all Oklahoma donors per year. Once it's gone, it's gone — file early.
The maximum credit any single school district can receive through the program in a year.
Who can give. When to file.
Eligibility
- Oklahoma residents and businesses with state tax liability.
- Individuals filing single, joint, head of household, or as a business / corporation.
- The credit applies to Oklahoma state income tax — not federal. It's non-refundable but carries forward up to 3 years.
- Donations must be made to OEOEF (a verified 501(c)(3)) — not directly to a school district.
